Frequently asked questions

Good to know the short answers

Everything important about arrival, your stay, prices, dogs and children, the neighbourhood and groups. Your question isn’t here? Ask Eve or write to us.

Arrival & check-in

When can I check in?

From 3 pm and then around the clock. Often earlier too – just try at the kiosk. As soon as your room is ready, you can check in. You can leave your luggage beforehand; you will receive the code for the entrance door 3 days before arrival.

Can I arrive late in the evening or at night?

Yes. Self check-in at the kiosk works from 3 pm around the clock, so also after 10 pm or in the middle of the night. Your key card opens the front door and your room; you don’t need anyone on site.

How does self check-in work?

At the kiosk right in front of the entrance door, you enter your 4-digit reservation number (or your surname and departure date), scan your ID card or passport to register, sign with your finger, pay by debit or credit card if necessary and receive your key card. It takes under a minute.

Is there a reception desk?

No. You will find all the information in our digital guest folder. The best way to reach us is by email, for short questions also by phone or WhatsApp, and in the evening and at night via an emergency number. For real emergencies there is also the bell at the entrance door.

Is there a lift?

No. The Kerlin is a Berlin period building; the rooms are reached by the stairs.

Do you have accessible rooms?

Rooms with reduced barriers, yes; wheelchair-accessible rooms, no. Our ground-floor rooms can be reached step-free, and one Single Room and one Classic Twin each have a walk-in shower with no step. If you would like one of them, please drop us a line after booking so we can reserve it for you. However, our rooms are not wheelchair accessible according to the German DIN standard: there are no grab rails or shower seats, and the upper floors can only be reached by the stairs, as we have no lift. If you have special requirements, please write to us before booking – we will tell you honestly whether it is a good fit.

Can I park?

Yes, for €15 per day right next door – please reserve in advance by email or add it when booking direct. There are further paid parking spaces on the street.

Is there an airport transfer?

Yes, at a charge via our partner – bookable right here: Book an airport transfer. You will also find the link in your booking confirmation.

Your stay

Is breakfast available?

No. Instead, the best bakeries and cafés are right outside the door, such as BäckerMann diagonally opposite and Simply Sweet directly opposite. Coffee, tea, small cakes and fruit are free at our station in the lobby.

Is my room cleaned daily?

Only on request – this is part of our GreenKerlin initiative. There is no cleaning on Saturdays and Sundays. Fresh towels are always available under the stairs on the ground floor.

Can I do my laundry?

Yes, a washing machine and dryer are available for €5 per use.

Is there a kitchen?

Yes, a shared kitchen on the ground floor. Our Studios have their own kitchen.

Can I rent a bike?

Not directly from us, but very close by: Fahrradbox Berlin (Konstanzer Straße 55), California Sports (Emser Straße 44) and Swapfiets (Uhlandstraße 45). For spontaneous rides, use the Lime or Deutsche Bahn Call a Bike apps – the bikes are parked all over the neighbourhood.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, free fibre-optic Wi-Fi.

Can I smoke?

Only outdoors – and please not directly in front of the entrance or in front of the windows. Smoking is prohibited throughout the building.

Can I use e-cigarettes or vapes?

Not inside the building. Smoking and vaping of any kind is prohibited indoors; outside, please not directly in front of the entrance or in front of the windows – out of consideration for the other guests. In the event of violations we charge a cleaning fee of €150.

Prices & occupancy

What do I pay if I travel alone?

If you book for one person, you automatically see the lower price for one person – even in larger rooms. Each additional person costs a supplement: the second €20 per night, the third and fourth (Studio, Salon Room) €15 per night each.

Do you have family rooms?

Yes. The Studio with kitchen sleeps up to 3 people, the Salon Room up to 4 plus a baby in a cot.

Where do I get the best price?

By booking direct on our website – our best price is only available there.

Dogs & children

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, in our ground-floor rooms. Please let us know about your dog before you arrive. For €20 per night a dog bed, bowls, a toy and vegan treats are waiting.

Can my dog stay alone in the room?

Only if it stays calm – out of consideration for the other guests.

Are children welcome?

Very much so. There is a high chair, a children’s corner and games in the house, a playground right opposite on Olivaer Platz and a large one behind Ludwigkirche.

Neighbourhood

Where is the nearest supermarket?

Lidl around the corner (Knesebeckstraße), Netto on Pariser Straße, plus EDEKA and Alnatura nearby. Late-night shops (Spätis) are open until after midnight.

Where can I charge my electric car?

Diagonally opposite at the Olivaer Platz car park (4 charging points) and around the corner on Württembergische Straße and Sächsische Straße.

Where is the nearest petrol station?

Sprint, Lietzenburger Straße 97.

How do I get into town?

Several U-Bahn stations are within walking distance (Uhlandstraße, Adenauerplatz, Konstanzer Straße, Spichernstraße), plus the S-Bahn station Savignyplatz. The nearest bus stop is Bleibtreustraße – just walk straight down the street; more buses stop at Olivaer Platz.

Where can I go running?

Running routes start a few steps from the hotel: about 5 km to Preußenpark, 10 km through Volkspark Wilmersdorf, 20 km to the Charlottenburg Palace gardens.

Departure

When do I have to check out?

By 11 am. Drop your key card into the key box next to the coffee station. Unfortunately a late check-out is not possible, but you can leave your luggage at Space37.

When will I receive my invoice?

Automatically by email one day after check-out.

Longer stays

Can I rent by the month?

Yes, as co-living or in a serviced apartment – all the details at coliving-in-berlin.de.

Groups & trade fairs

Do you accept groups?

With pleasure – for groups of up to 30 people. With 18 rooms we are just the right size for teams, clubs, family celebrations or groups of friends. Simply write to us at hotel@kerlin.berlin with your travel dates and number of people. Separate cancellation and payment terms apply to groups; you will receive them with our offer.

Can we rent the whole hotel?

Yes. You can book the entire Kerlin exclusively for your group – if you like, together with our meeting room Space37 for meetings and workshops.

We’re coming for a trade fair – does that work?

Perfectly. Messe Berlin is no more than 15 minutes from the Kerlin by car, and especially during trade fair season we are ideal as a whole house for exhibitor teams and delegations: everyone under one roof, self check-in even late in the evening, coworking in the house. Enquire early – Berlin books up quickly during trade fairs.
